Cheshire Optical produces a wide range of optical filter products. we regularly make filters with special requirements for customers who have needs not met by our standard product listings. Our extensive experience in filter design and manufacture allow us to be one of the most competitive suppliers of custom optical filters. some of the special requirements we can meet include but are not limited to the following: wideband filters with steep edges and high attenuation deep attenuating filters suitable for fluorescence applications tight tolerance of center wavelength or band width high transmittance filters controlled attenuation filters filters designed for high F# use / low shift with angle custom narrow band filters from 1nm FWHM and up matched sets of filters Custom Oxide surface coatings Special dichroic filters edge filters
Our spectroscopy department utilizes three spectrophtometers that cover wavelength measuring capability from 190nm to 3200nm. We have a Perkin Elmer lambda 35, a Shimadzu UV-3101PC, and a Varian Cary 14. Between these three spectrophotomerters we can verify the performance of any of our coatings and provide detailed reports on each lot coming out of the production floor.
As a part of our standard practice's we measure every filter and create a lot report from the digital data for each batch of filters, and from that we provide curves for each lot with the optional capability of providing data on each component we supply. Our combined experience in spectrophotometric measurement of optical filtering components in our spectroscopy department not only benefits our internal quality control, it gives our customers the assurance that their optics are accurately represented and meet spec. we also have our spectrophotomerters serviced and calibrated on a regular schedule by certified service techs and have our own in house calibration and performance checks made with NIST standards.
We can offer different filter assembly solutions for special needs in addition to our standard ring mounted filters ( see our technical info page for a more detailed look at our standard filter construction ). some applications need special considerations that effect the optical performance. some of the solutions we have provided include the following: super low stray light assembly ^Top special thin assembly for tight space requirements additional blocking components custom sizes with a painted edge, untreated edge or custom ring mount on request
Our filters come standard with wavelength, bandwidth and lot code marked on the edge, sealed in individually marked bags with desiccant. each filter or lot of filters comes with a lot report and spectral performance curve. a more detailed report can be provided that shows the complete data of the all the filters in the lot. We also have other packaging options we can offer to our customers.
