Short-wave Pass and Long-wave Pass Filters Our Short-wave and Long-wave Pass Filters exhibit a sharp transition from a spectral region of attenuation to one of transmission. Because they attenuate by reflection, these filters can be used in either the transmissive or the reflective mode.
Long-wave pass and short wave-pass filters can be combined in pairs to create a variety of transmission bands, allowing for independent control of the cut-on and cut-off wavelengths. They also can be used with a detector to sort orders or to narrow a spectral range. They are often used to redirect unwanted thermal energy away from an optical system.
